योगवासिष्ठः yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-6, chapter-31, verse-28

ईषत्स्पन्दादधो याति भृगुप्रान्तात्तरोः फलम् ।
यथा तथैष संवित्तेरधःपातो महानिव ॥ २८ ॥

yathā tathaiṣa saṃvitteradhaḥpāto mahāniva 28

28. īṣatspandāt adhaḥ yāti bhṛguprāntāt taroḥ phalam |
yathā tathā eṣaḥ saṃvitteḥ adhaḥpātaḥ mahān iva ||

28. yathā īṣatspandāt bhṛguprāntāt taroḥ phalam adhaḥ yāti,
tathā eṣaḥ saṃvitteḥ mahān adhaḥpātaḥ iva.

28. Just as a fruit falls down from a tree at the edge of a precipice due to a slight tremor, so too is this the great descent of consciousness (saṃvit).
