योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-6, chapter-31, verse-31

वातात्कनीनिकास्पन्दस्तद्दीप्तिर्दृष्टिरुच्यते ।
तद्बाह्यवति तद्रूपरूपबोधस्तु चित्परा ॥ ३१ ॥
vātātkanīnikāspandastaddīptirdṛṣṭirucyate ,
tadbāhyavati tadrūparūpabodhastu citparā 31
31. vātāt kanīnikāspandaḥ tatdīptiḥ dṛṣṭiḥ ucyate
| tatbāhyavati tatrūparūpabodhaḥ tu cit parā ||
31. vātāt kanīnikāspandaḥ tatdīptiḥ ca dṛṣṭiḥ ucyate.

31. The movement of the pupil (kanīnikā) caused by vital energy (vāta) and its illumination is called sight (dṛṣṭi). However, the understanding (bodha) of the true form of that external object is supreme consciousness (cit).
