योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-6, chapter-31, verse-20

मलिनाप्यमुनैषा साऽविकल्पाढ्या विकल्पिनी ।
जडेवाप्यजडाभासा न सर्वा सर्वगैव च ॥ २० ॥
malināpyamunaiṣā sā'vikalpāḍhyā vikalpinī ,
jaḍevāpyajaḍābhāsā na sarvā sarvagaiva ca 20
20. malinā api amunā eṣā sā avikalpāḍhyā vikalpinī
jaḍā iva api ajaḍābhāsā na sarvā sarvagā eva ca
20. eṣā sā amunā malinā api,
avikalpāḍhyā ca vikalpinī,
jaḍā iva api ajaḍābhāsā,
ca na sarvā eva sarvagā
20. This (consciousness), though appearing soiled by this phenomenal activity, is rich in the undifferentiated and also creates distinctions. Though appearing inert, she shines forth as non-inert. She is not completely all-encompassing, yet she is indeed all-pervading.
