महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-7, chapter-157, verse-8

यथा वराहस्य शुनश्च युध्यतोस्तयोरभावे श्वपचस्य लाभः ।
मन्ये विद्वन्वासुदेवस्य तद्वद्युद्धे लाभः कर्णहैडिम्बयोर्वै ॥८॥
8. yathā varāhasya śunaśca yudhyato;stayorabhāve śvapacasya lābhaḥ ,
manye vidvanvāsudevasya tadva;dyuddhe lābhaḥ karṇahaiḍimbayorvai.

8. विद्वन्,
यथा वराहस्य शुनः च युध्यतोः तयोः अभावे श्वपचस्य लाभः,
तद्वत् कर्णहैडिम्बयोः युद्धे वासुदेवस्य लाभः वै मन्ये।
8. O learned one, just as when a boar and a dog are fighting and both disappear, the gain is for the dog-eater; similarly, I believe that in the battle between Karṇa and Ghaṭotkaca, the true gain is for Vāsudeva (Kṛṣṇa).
