महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-7, chapter-157, verse-36

तथेति च प्रतिज्ञातं कर्णेन शिनिपुंगव ।
हृदि नित्यं तु कर्णस्य वधो गाण्डीवधन्वनः ॥३६॥
36. tatheti ca pratijñātaṁ karṇena śinipuṁgava ,
hṛdi nityaṁ tu karṇasya vadho gāṇḍīvadhanvanaḥ.
36. tathā iti ca pratijñātam karṇena śinipuṅgava
hṛdi nityam tu karṇasya vadhaḥ gāṇḍīvadhanvanaḥ
36. śinipuṅgava karṇena tathā iti ca pratijñātam tu
karṇasya hṛdi gāṇḍīvadhanvanaḥ vadhaḥ nityam
36. O best among the Shinis (śinipuṅgava), thus was the vow made by Karna. Yet, the killing of Arjuna, the wielder of the Gāṇḍīva bow, was always in Karna's heart.
