महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-247, verse-45

सुखस्यानन्तरं दुःखं दुःखस्यानन्तरं सुखम् ।
पर्यायेणोपवर्तन्ते नरं नेमिमरा इव ॥४५॥
45. sukhasyānantaraṁ duḥkhaṁ duḥkhasyānantaraṁ sukham ,
paryāyeṇopavartante naraṁ nemimarā iva.
45. sukhasya anantaram duḥkham duḥkhasya anantaram
sukham paryāyeṇa upavartante naram nemimarāḥ iva
45. Happiness is followed by sorrow, and sorrow by happiness. They approach a person in succession, just like the spokes of a wheel.
