महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-14, chapter-77, verse-10

बालान्स्त्रियो वा युष्माकं न हनिष्ये व्यवस्थितान् ।
यश्च वक्ष्यति संग्रामे तवास्मीति पराजितः ॥१०॥
10. bālānstriyo vā yuṣmākaṁ na haniṣye vyavasthitān ,
yaśca vakṣyati saṁgrāme tavāsmīti parājitaḥ.

yaḥ ca vakṣyati saṃgrāme tava asmi iti parājitaḥ
10. yuṣmākaṃ bālān vā striyaḥ vyavasthitān na haniṣye.
ca yaḥ parājitaḥ saṃgrāme tava asmi iti vakṣyati
10. I will not kill your children or women who remain (as non-combatants). And whoever, defeated in battle, will say, 'I am yours,' (him too I will spare).
