महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-254, verse-19

यस्मादुद्विजते लोकः सर्वो मृत्युमुखादिव ।
वाक्क्रूराद्दण्डपारुष्यात्स प्राप्नोति महद्भयम् ॥१९॥
19. yasmādudvijate lokaḥ sarvo mṛtyumukhādiva ,
vākkrūrāddaṇḍapāruṣyātsa prāpnoti mahadbhayam.

krūrāt daṇḍapāruṣyāt sa prāpnoti mahat bhayam

19. The one from whom all people recoil as if from the very jaws of death, due to cruel speech and harsh punishment, that person will experience great fear.
