संरोधयेत्प्रयत्नेन संविदेवाशु संविदम् ।
सरित्स्रोतोनिरोधेन शुष्यत्येषा मनोनदी ॥ ५५ ॥

55. saṃrodhayet prayatnena saṃvit eva āśu saṃvidam

55. prayatnena āśu saṃvit eva saṃvidam saṃrodhayet
saritsrotasnirodhena eṣā manonadī śuṣyati

55. One should swiftly restrain consciousness (saṃvit) with consciousness itself, through great effort. Just as a river dries up by blocking its flow, so too does this river of the mind (manaḥ nadī) dry up.
