वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-7, chapter-36, verse-11

मत्करोत्सृष्टवज्रेण हनुरस्य यथा क्षतः ।
नाम्नैष कपिशार्दूलो भविता हनुमानिति ॥११॥
11. matkarotsṛṣṭavajreṇa hanurasya yathā kṣataḥ ,
nāmnaiṣa kapiśārdūlo bhavitā hanumāniti.
11. mat kara utsṛṣṭa vajreṇa hanuḥ asya yathā kṣataḥ
| nāmnā eṣa kapiśārdūlaḥ bhavitā hanumān iti
11. yathā matkarotsṛṣṭavajreṇa asya hanuḥ kṣataḥ,
(tasmāt) nāmnā eṣa kapiśārdūlaḥ hanumān iti bhavitā
11. Because his jaw was injured by the thunderbolt released from my hand, this best among monkeys will be known by the name Hanumān.
