वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-7, chapter-26, verse-25

धर्मतो यो भवेद्विप्रः क्षत्रियो वीर्यतो भवेत् ।
क्रोधाद् यश्च भवेदग्निः क्षान्त्या च वसुधासमः ॥२५॥
25. dharmato yo bhavedvipraḥ kṣatriyo vīryato bhavet ,
krodhād yaśca bhavedagniḥ kṣāntyā ca vasudhāsamaḥ.
25. dharmataḥ yaḥ bhavet vipraḥ kṣatriyaḥ vīryataḥ bhavet
krodhāt yaḥ ca bhavet agniḥ kṣāntyā ca vasudhāsamaḥ
25. One who becomes a brahmin through his inherent nature (dharma), a kshatriya through valor, who becomes like fire due to anger, and is like the earth through forgiveness.
