वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-4, chapter-8, verse-37

संक्षेपस्त्वेष मे राम किमुक्त्वा विस्तरं हि ते ।
स मे ज्येष्ठो रिपुर्भ्राता वाली विश्रुतपौरुषः ॥३७॥
37. saṃkṣepastveṣa me rāma kimuktvā vistaraṃ hi te ,
sa me jyeṣṭho ripurbhrātā vālī viśrutapauruṣaḥ.
37. saṃkṣepaḥ tu eṣaḥ me rāma kim uktvā vistaram hi te
saḥ me jyeṣṭhaḥ ripuḥ bhrātā vālī viśrutapauruṣaḥ
37. rāma,
eṣaḥ me saṃkṣepaḥ tu (asti).
te vistaram uktvā hi kim (prayojanam)? saḥ me jyeṣṭhaḥ bhrātā ripuḥ vālī (ca) viśrutapauruṣaḥ (asti).
37. O Rama, this is my brief account. Why should I explain it to you in great detail? He is my elder brother and adversary, Vali, whose prowess is widely known.
