वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-4, chapter-8, verse-26

त्वं हि पाणिप्रदानेन वयस्यो सो ऽग्निसाक्षिकः ।
कृतः प्राणैर्बहुमतः सत्येनापि शपाम्यहम् ॥२६॥
26. tvaṃ hi pāṇipradānena vayasyo so'gnisākṣikaḥ ,
kṛtaḥ prāṇairbahumataḥ satyenāpi śapāmyaham.
26. tvam hi pāṇipradānena vayasyaḥ saḥ agnisākṣikaḥ
kṛtaḥ prāṇaiḥ bahumataḥ satyena api śapāmi aham
26. hi tvam pāṇipradānena agnisākṣikaḥ saḥ vayasyaḥ kṛtaḥ prāṇaiḥ bahumataḥ (asi).
aham satyena api śapāmi.
26. Indeed, by extending your hand (in friendship), you became my friend, with fire as our witness. You are held in great esteem, dearer than my own life; I swear this even by truth.
