द्वयोर्योगसमे वर्षे कष्टं मृत्युसमं दिशेत् ।
दशारिष्टसमायोगो मृत्युरेव न संशयः ॥४०॥

40. dvayoryogasame varṣe kaṣṭaṃ mṛtyusamaṃ diśet .
daśāriṣṭasamāyogo mṛtyureva na saṃśayaḥ.

40. dvayoḥ yogasame varṣe kaṣṭaṃ mṛtyusamaṃ diśet
daśāriṣṭasamāyogaḥ mṛtyuḥ eva na saṃśayaḥ

40. In a year that corresponds to the combined influence of two [malefic factors], one should predict suffering comparable to death. An alignment of ten malefic indicators (ariṣṭa) in the planetary periods (daśā) certainly signifies death, without a doubt.
