मार्कण्डेय उवाच ।
एवं स्तुतस्ततस्तेन भगवान्हव्यवाहनः ।
ज्वालामालावृततनुस्तस्यासीदग्रतो मुने ॥१॥

evaṃ stutastatastena bhagavānhavyavāhanaḥ .
jvālāmālāvṛtatanustasyāsīdagrato mune.

Mārkaṇḍeya said: Thus praised by him, the venerable Agni (havyavāhana), whose body was enveloped in a garland of flames, appeared before him, O sage (muni).
