महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-7, chapter-163, verse-13

अभिसंश्लिष्टयोस्तत्र तयोराहवशौण्डयोः ।
अभिन्नशरपातत्वाद्गदायुद्धमवर्तत ॥१३॥
13. abhisaṁśliṣṭayostatra tayorāhavaśauṇḍayoḥ ,
abhinnaśarapātatvādgadāyuddhamavartata.

13. When those two warriors, eager for battle, were locked in close combat there, a mace fight ensued because arrow attacks became ineffective.
