महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-36, verse-8

गवां शतसहस्रं तु पात्रेभ्यः प्रतिपादयन् ।
ब्रह्महा विप्रमुच्येत सर्वपापेभ्य एव च ॥८॥

8. Indeed, by offering a hundred thousand cows to deserving recipients (pātra), even a killer of a Brahmin (brahmahā) would be completely freed from all sins.
