महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-36, verse-36

शुभाशुभफलं प्रेत्य लभते भूतसाक्षिकः ।
अतिरिच्येत्तयोर्यत्तु तत्कर्ता लभते फलम् ॥३६॥
36. śubhāśubhaphalaṁ pretya labhate bhūtasākṣikaḥ ,
atiricyettayoryattu tatkartā labhate phalam.

36. After death, the one whose actions are witnessed by all beings (bhūta) receives the fruits of both auspicious and inauspicious deeds. Whatever surplus there may be of those two (fruits), its performer obtains that fruit.
