महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-36, verse-39

अनुरूपं हि पापस्य प्रायश्चित्तमुदाहृतम् ।
महापातकवर्जं तु प्रायश्चित्तं विधीयते ॥३९॥
39. anurūpaṁ hi pāpasya prāyaścittamudāhṛtam ,
mahāpātakavarjaṁ tu prāyaścittaṁ vidhīyate.
