महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-291, verse-34

कृत्स्नमेतावतस्तात क्षरते व्यक्तसंज्ञकम् ।
अहन्यहनि भूतात्मा ततः क्षर इति स्मृतः ॥३४॥
34. kṛtsnametāvatastāta kṣarate vyaktasaṁjñakam ,
ahanyahani bhūtātmā tataḥ kṣara iti smṛtaḥ.

ahani ahani bhūtātmā tataḥ kṣaraḥ iti smṛtaḥ
34. tāta,
kṛtsnam yat vyaktasaṃjñakam asti,
etāvataḥ kṣarate.
tataḥ bhūtātmā ahani ahani kṣaraḥ iti smṛtaḥ.
34. O dear one (tāta), all that is known as the manifest (vyakta), to this extent, decays. Therefore, the soul (ātman) of beings is called the 'perishable' (kṣara) day after day.
