महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-166, verse-40

चक्रे चात्मविनाशाय बुद्धिं स मुनिसत्तमः ।
न त्वेव कुशिकोच्छेदं मेने मतिमतां वरः ॥४०॥
40. cakre cātmavināśāya buddhiṁ sa munisattamaḥ ,
na tveva kuśikocchedaṁ mene matimatāṁ varaḥ.
40. cakre ca ātma-vināśāya buddhim saḥ muni-sattamaḥ
na tu eva kuśika-ucchedam mene matimatām varaḥ
40. And that best of sages resolved for self-destruction (ātman), but that foremost among the wise did not consider the destruction of Kuśika's lineage.
