महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-13, verse-21

न हि धर्मफलैस्तात न तपोभिः सुसंचितैः ।
तां गतिं प्राप्नुवन्तीह पुत्रिणो यां व्रजन्ति ह ॥२१॥

21. na hi dharmaphalaistāta na tapobhiḥ susaṁcitaiḥ ,
tāṁ gatiṁ prāpnuvantīha putriṇo yāṁ vrajanti ha.

21. O dear child, indeed, neither through the fruits of virtuous deeds nor through well-accumulated austerities do people attain that state which those who have sons eventually reach.

21. בני היקר, בעולם הזה אין מגיעים אל היעד שאליו מגיעים בעלי הבנים, לא בפירות מעשי היושר ולא בתרגולים שנצברו היטב.
