तं वासुकिः प्रत्यगृह्णादुद्यम्य भगिनीं तदा ।
न स तां प्रतिजग्राह न सनाम्नीति चिन्तयन् ॥३१॥

31. taṁ vāsukiḥ pratyagṛhṇādudyamya bhaginīṁ tadā ,
na sa tāṁ pratijagrāha na sanāmnīti cintayan.

31. tam vāsukiḥ prati-agṛhṇāt udyamya bhaginīm tadā
na saḥ tām prati-jagrāha na sanāmnī iti cintayan

31. Then, Vasuki, offering his sister, received him. But he (Jaradkāru) did not accept her, thinking, 'She is not named Jaradkāru (like me).'
