The demon (daitya), [torn] by nails (nakhaiḥ) like ten million spears (śakti-koṭi), [struggled] with his neck raised (uddhura-kandharaḥ) like an ocean (sindhu), [churned] like water (vārivat) agitated by the snorting trunk (kara-phūtkṛta) of a lordly elephant (nāgendra) standing in a lake (saraḥ-sthala-stha).
