The serpent-demon (nāga) merely disgorged (atyajat) a mass of blood (rudhiravrātām), just like water (jalam iva). Līlā from that region (tad-deśa-līlā), seeing him (tam dṛṣṭvā), [felt as if] darkness (tamaḥ) were dispelled (bhagnam) by the moon (indunā).
