मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-68, verse-45

स्वपोषणपरः शङ्खी नरो भवति सर्वदा ।
इत्येते निधयः ख्याता नराणामर्थदेवताः ॥४५॥
45. svapoṣaṇaparaḥ śaṅkhī naro bhavati sarvadā .
ityete nidhayaḥ khyātā narāṇāmarthadevatāḥ.
45. svapoṣaṇaparaḥ śaṅkhī naraḥ bhavati sarvadā
iti ete nidhayaḥ khyātāḥ narāṇām arthadevatāḥ
45. Such a man is always devoted to his own sustenance and becomes suspicious. Thus, these are known as the 'treasures' (nidhayaḥ) of men, the deities presiding over their material pursuits.
