महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-94, verse-36

सुमहच्चापि तत्कर्म यन्नरेण कृतं पुरा ।
ततो गुणैः सुबहुभिः श्रेष्ठो नारायणोऽभवत् ॥३६॥
36. sumahaccāpi tatkarma yannareṇa kṛtaṁ purā ,
tato guṇaiḥ subahubhiḥ śreṣṭho nārāyaṇo'bhavat.
36. sumahat ca api tat karma yat nareṇa kṛtam purā
tataḥ guṇaiḥ subahubhiḥ śreṣṭhaḥ nārāyaṇaḥ abhavat
36. That action (karma) which was performed by humans in the past was indeed very great. Consequently, Narayana became superior due to many excellent qualities.
