उच्यमानस्तथापि स्म भूय एवाभ्यभाषत ।
पुनः पुनः क्षम्यमाणः सान्त्व्यमानश्च भारत ।
दम्भोद्भवो युद्धमिच्छन्नाह्वयत्येव तापसौ ॥२२॥

ucyamānastathāpi sma bhūya evābhyabhāṣata ,
punaḥ punaḥ kṣamyamāṇaḥ sāntvyamānaśca bhārata ,
dambhodbhavo yuddhamicchannāhvayatyeva tāpasau.

22.
Rāma said: "Even while being told that (to seek battle elsewhere), he spoke again and again. O Bhārata, even though he was repeatedly forgiven and consoled, Dambhodbhava, desiring battle, continued to challenge the two ascetics (tapas)."
