महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-4, chapter-4, verse-14

नैषां दारेषु कुर्वीत मैत्रीं प्राज्ञः कथंचन ।
अन्तःपुरचरा ये च द्वेष्टि यानहिताश्च ये ॥१४॥

14. A wise person should never, by any means, cultivate friendship with the king's wives, nor with those who frequent the inner palace, nor with those whom the king despises, nor with those who are hostile.
