यवक्रीरुवाच ।
न चैतदेवं क्रियते देवराज ममेप्सितम् ।
महता नियमेनाहं तप्स्ये घोरतरं तपः ॥२७॥

na caitadevaṁ kriyate devarāja mamepsitam ,
mahatā niyamenāhaṁ tapsye ghorataraṁ tapaḥ.

27. Yavakrī said: "O king of the gods, this desire of mine will not be fulfilled in that manner. I will undertake an extremely severe austerity (tapas) with a great vow."
