नारद उवाच ।
अन्नमेव प्रशंसन्ति देवाः सर्षिगणाः पुरा ।
लोकतन्त्रं हि यज्ञाश्च सर्वमन्ने प्रतिष्ठितम् ॥५॥

annameva praśaṁsanti devāḥ sarṣigaṇāḥ purā ,

Nārada said: In ancient times, gods along with groups of sages praised food alone. Indeed, the entire social order, as well as (Vedic) rituals (yajña), everything is founded upon food.
