महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-62, verse-25

अन्नं प्राणा नराणां हि सर्वमन्ने प्रतिष्ठितम् ।
अन्नदः पशुमान्पुत्री धनवान्भोगवानपि ॥२५॥
25. annaṁ prāṇā narāṇāṁ hi sarvamanne pratiṣṭhitam ,
annadaḥ paśumānputrī dhanavānbhogavānapi.

25. Food is indeed the very life (prāṇa) of human beings; everything is established in food. A person who gives food (annada) becomes rich in cattle, has sons, is wealthy, and also enjoys all kinds of pleasures.
