महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-11, chapter-26, verse-42

ये चाप्यनाथास्तत्रासन्नानादेशसमागताः ।
तांश्च सर्वान्समानाय्य राशीन्कृत्वा सहस्रशः ॥४२॥
42. ye cāpyanāthāstatrāsannānādeśasamāgatāḥ ,
tāṁśca sarvānsamānāyya rāśīnkṛtvā sahasraśaḥ.
42. ye ca api anāthāḥ tatra āsan nānādeśasamāgatāḥ
tān ca sarvān samānāyya rāśīn kṛtvā sahasraśaḥ
42. ca api ye anāthāḥ tatra nānādeśasamāgatāḥ āsan,
ca tān sarvān samānāyya,
sahasraśaḥ rāśīn kṛtvā
42. And those helpless (anātha) individuals who were present there, having come from diverse regions, Vidura, having gathered all of them, made them into thousands of piles (for proper rites).
