महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-70, verse-11

मार्तण्डस्य मनुर्धीमानजायत सुतः प्रभुः ।
मनोर्वंशो मानवानां ततोऽयं प्रथितोऽभवत् ।
ब्रह्मक्षत्रादयस्तस्मान्मनोर्जातास्तु मानवाः ॥११॥
11. mārtaṇḍasya manurdhīmānajāyata sutaḥ prabhuḥ ,
manorvaṁśo mānavānāṁ tato'yaṁ prathito'bhavat ,
brahmakṣatrādayastasmānmanorjātāstu mānavāḥ.
11. mārtaṇḍasya manuḥ dhīmān ajāyata sutaḥ
prabhuḥ manoḥ vaṃśaḥ mānavānām
tataḥ ayam prathitaḥ abhavat brahmakṣatrādayaḥ
tasmāt manoḥ jātāḥ tu mānavāḥ
11. From that Mārtaṇḍa, the wise and powerful son Manu was born. From Manu, this human lineage then became renowned. Indeed, Brahmins, Kshatriyas, and other humans were born from that Manu.
