महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-119, verse-3

कृतशौचांस्ततस्तांस्तु पाण्डवान्भरतर्षभान् ।
आदाय विविशुः पौराः पुरं वारणसाह्वयम् ॥३॥
3. kṛtaśaucāṁstatastāṁstu pāṇḍavānbharatarṣabhān ,
ādāya viviśuḥ paurāḥ puraṁ vāraṇasāhvayam.
3. kṛtaśaucān tataḥ tān tu pāṇḍavān bharatarṣabhān
| ādāya viviśuḥ paurāḥ puram vāraṇasāhvayam
3. Then, the citizens, taking those Pāṇḍavas, who were like bulls among the Bharatas and who had completed their purification (śauca) rites, entered the city named Vāraṇasā.
