मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-107, verse-17

यैर्मदर्थं तपस्तप्तं कृशैर्धमनिसन्ततैः ।
ते मरिष्यन्त्यहं भोगी जीविष्यामीति धिक्करम् ॥१७॥
17. yairmadarthaṃ tapastaptaṃ kṛśairdhamanisantataiḥ .
te mariṣyantyahaṃ bhogī jīviṣyāmīti dhikkaram.
17. yaiḥ madartham tapaḥ taptam kṛśaiḥ dhamanīsantataiḥ
te mariṣyanti aham bhogī jīviṣyāmi iti dhikkaram
17. Those who performed severe austerities (tapas) for my sake, becoming emaciated with prominent veins, will die, while I, who lived a life of enjoyment, will continue to live. This situation is truly despicable!
