मार्कण्डेय उवाच ।
ततः प्रसन्नो भगवान्भानुराहाखिलाञ्जनान् ।
व्रियतां यदभिप्रेतं मत्तः प्राप्तुं द्विजादयः ॥१॥

Mārkaṇḍeya said: Then, the pleased Lord Bhānu (the Sun god) spoke to all the people, "O Brahmins and others, choose whatever you desire to obtain from me."
