उत्तस्थौ राजभिः सार्धं देवैरिव शतक्रतुः ।
सेनापत्येन सत्कर्तुं कर्णं स्कन्दमिवामराः ॥३५॥

Sañjaya said: Thus addressed, the mighty-splendored King Duryodhana then rose up with the kings, just as Indra (śatakratu) would rise with the deities. (He did this) to honor Karṇa with the position of commander-in-chief, just as the immortals (amarāḥ) would honor Skanda.
