महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-34, verse-8

अन्तमद्य करिष्यामि तस्य दुःखस्य पार्षत ।
हन्ता वास्मि रणे कर्णं स वा मां निहनिष्यति ।
संग्रामेण सुघोरेण सत्यमेतद्ब्रवीमि वः ॥८॥
8. antamadya kariṣyāmi tasya duḥkhasya pārṣata ,
hantā vāsmi raṇe karṇaṁ sa vā māṁ nihaniṣyati ,
saṁgrāmeṇa sughoreṇa satyametadbravīmi vaḥ.
8. antam adya kariṣyāmi tasya duḥkhasya
pārṣata hantā vā asmi raṇe karṇam
saḥ vā mām nihaniṣyati saṃgrāmeṇa
sughoreṇa satyam etat bravīmi vaḥ
8. pārṣata adya tasya duḥkhasya antam
kariṣyāmi raṇe sughoreṇa saṃgrāmeṇa
karṇam hantā vā asmi saḥ vā mām
nihaniṣyati etat satyam vaḥ bravīmi
8. Today I will put an end to that sorrow, O son of Pṛṣata. Either I will kill Karṇa in a most terrible battle, or he will kill me. I speak this truth to you.
