महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-6, chapter-51, verse-41

तत्रावहारं संप्राप्तं मन्येऽहं पुरुषर्षभ ।
श्रान्ता भीताश्च नो योधा न योत्स्यन्ति कथंचन ॥४१॥
41. tatrāvahāraṁ saṁprāptaṁ manye'haṁ puruṣarṣabha ,
śrāntā bhītāśca no yodhā na yotsyanti kathaṁcana.
41. tatra avahāram saṃprāptam manye aham puruṣarṣabha
śrāntāḥ bhītāḥ ca naḥ yodhāḥ na yotsyanti kathaṃcana
41. puruṣarṣabha tatra avahāram saṃprāptam aham manye
naḥ yodhāḥ śrāntāḥ ca bhītāḥ na kathaṃcana yotsyanti
41. O chief among men (puruṣarṣabha), I believe that the time for withdrawal (avahāra) has come there. Our warriors (yodhāḥ), tired (śrāntāḥ) and frightened (bhītāḥ), will not fight at all (kathaṃcana).
