महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-262, verse-30

एतस्मिन्नन्तरे रक्षो रावणः प्रत्यदृश्यत ।
अभव्यो भव्यरूपेण भस्मच्छन्न इवानलः ।
यतिवेषप्रतिच्छन्नो जिहीर्षुस्तामनिन्दिताम् ॥३०॥
30. etasminnantare rakṣo rāvaṇaḥ pratyadṛśyata ,
abhavyo bhavyarūpeṇa bhasmacchanna ivānalaḥ ,
yativeṣapraticchanno jihīrṣustāmaninditām.

30. At that moment, the demon Ravana appeared. Though inauspicious, he assumed a splendid form, like a fire covered by ashes. He was disguised as an ascetic, intending to abduct the blameless woman.
