महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-262, verse-14

इत्येवमुक्तो मारीचः कृत्वोदकमथात्मनः ।
रावणं पुरतो यान्तमन्वगच्छत्सुदुःखितः ॥१४॥
14. ityevamukto mārīcaḥ kṛtvodakamathātmanaḥ ,
rāvaṇaṁ purato yāntamanvagacchatsuduḥkhitaḥ.
14. iti evam uktaḥ mārīcaḥ kṛtvā udakam atha ātmanaḥ
rāvaṇam purataḥ yāntam anvagacchat suduḥkhitaḥ
14. Having been addressed in this manner, Maricha, after performing the water ritual (udakam) for himself (ātman), followed Ravana, who was walking ahead, extremely distressed.
