महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-262, verse-17

दर्शयामास वैदेहीं मारीचो मृगरूपधृक् ।
चोदयामास तस्यार्थे सा रामं विधिचोदिता ॥१७॥

codayāmāsa tasyārthe sā rāmaṁ vidhicoditā.

17. Maricha, having assumed the form of a deer (mṛgarūpadhṛk), showed himself to Vaidehi (Sita). Urged by fate, she then prompted Rama to pursue it.
