This (knowledge) should be given to one of pure character, who is fond of prescribed injunctions, free from disputes, and highly learned. It should also be given to one who truly understands, and who is not tolerant of what is harmful, and who is capable in self-control (dama) and tranquility (śama) among all embodied beings.
