Hamsa said: Self-study (svādhyāya) is declared to be their divine nature, and virtuous conduct (sādhutvam) is their sacred vow (vrata). Wickedness (asādhutvam) and slander (parīvādaḥ) are declared to be their human nature (mānuṣam), which is associated with death (mṛtyuḥ).
