महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-288, verse-16

आक्रुश्यमानो नाक्रोशेन्मन्युरेव तितिक्षतः ।
आक्रोष्टारं निर्दहति सुकृतं चास्य विन्दति ॥१६॥
16. ākruśyamāno nākrośenmanyureva titikṣataḥ ,
ākroṣṭāraṁ nirdahati sukṛtaṁ cāsya vindati.

16. One who is being insulted should not retaliate with insults. The very anger of the patient person consumes the one who insults, and the good deeds of that abuser are acquired by him (the patient one).
