महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-288, verse-35

अदुष्टं वर्तमाने तु हृदयान्तरपूरुषे ।
तेनैव देवाः प्रीयन्ते सतां मार्गस्थितेन वै ॥३५॥
35. aduṣṭaṁ vartamāne tu hṛdayāntarapūruṣe ,
tenaiva devāḥ prīyante satāṁ mārgasthitena vai.

eva devāḥ prīyante satām mārgastitena vai
35. tu (yadā) hṛdayāntarapūruṣe aduṣṭam vartamāne,
(tadā) tena eva satām mārgastitena vai devāḥ prīyante.
35. But when the inner person (puruṣa) dwells blamelessly within the heart, the gods are indeed pleased by that very one who is established on the path of the virtuous.
