महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-250, verse-36

सा वै तदा मृत्युसंज्ञापदेशाच्छापाद्भीता बाढमित्यब्रवीत्तम् ।
अथो प्राणान्प्राणिनामन्तकाले कामक्रोधौ प्राप्य निर्मोह्य हन्ति ॥३६॥
36. sā vai tadā mṛtyusaṁjñāpadeśā;cchāpādbhītā bāḍhamityabravīttam ,
atho prāṇānprāṇināmantakāle; kāmakrodhau prāpya nirmohya hanti.
36. sā vai tadā mṛtyusaṃjñāpadeśāt
śāpāt bhītā bāḍham iti abravīt tam
atho prāṇān prāṇinām antakāle
kāmakrodhau prāpya nirmohya hanti
36. sā vai tadā śāpāt ca mṛtyusaṃjñāpadeśāt
bhītā iti bāḍham abravīt
tam atho antakāle prāṇinām prāṇān
kāmakrodhau prāpya ca nirmohya hanti
36. Indeed, then she (Death), afraid because of the curse and the designation (as) Death, said to him, 'Certainly!' And so, at the time of their end, having imbued beings with desire and anger, and having deluded them, she takes the lives of creatures.
