ततो हिमवतो मूर्ध्नि यत्र देवाः समीजिरे ।
तत्राङ्गुष्ठेन राजेन्द्र निखर्वमपरं ततः ।
तस्थौ पितामहं चैव तोषयामास यत्नतः ॥२३॥

23. tato himavato mūrdhni yatra devāḥ samījire ,
tatrāṅguṣṭhena rājendra nikharvamaparaṁ tataḥ ,
tasthau pitāmahaṁ caiva toṣayāmāsa yatnataḥ.

23. tataḥ yatra devāḥ samījire,
himavataḥ mūrdhni tatra,

23. Then, on the peak of the Himalayas (Himavat), where the gods had performed Vedic rituals (yajña), there, O King of kings (rājendra), she stood, supporting herself on her thumb for another immense period (nikharvam) after that. And with great effort (tapas), she pleased the Grandfather (pitāmaha).
