श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
सिद्धान्तकाल एवास्य संप्रश्नस्योत्तरं स्थिरम् ।
कथयिष्यामि ते राम येन ज्ञास्यसि तत्त्वतः ॥ ८ ॥

Śrī Vasiṣṭha said: 'The definitive doctrine (siddhānta) is indeed the firm answer to this excellent question. I will explain it to you, Rama, by which you will truly understand the ultimate reality (tattva).'
